The team assembled at Lydden for the 3rd round of the SEMSEC Championship with a freshly geared Mini Clubman. The aim was to qualify in a good position but since Lydden is a short and twisty circuit it would be very hard on tyres and brakes.

As our sponsorship for tyres is very limited we tend to use our worn tyres from the DMN Championship, however, even with these the published results from qualifying reported the Mini had been classified on POLE position – we were ecstatic.

However this was to be short lived as the start of race 1 saw a rapid Audi twin turbo 4 wheel drive 480 bhp car reach the first corner  together with a fast starting Escort Cosworth before the Mini had a chance to stop its wheels spinning.

Lap after lap gaps shortened between the leader and myself, the driver of the Audi constantly looking in his mirror to see where we were positioned and low and behold on lap 8 he missed his breaking point ’’note to Audi Driver look where you are going’’.  This resulted in a pressure free run to the flag and an overall win.

Race 2 saw a duplicate scenario of race 1, however this time the Audi driver didn’t make a mistake he just braked a tad early for the corner at the end of the main straight allowing us to sail pass with ease ’’note to the Audi driver ‘’stay later on the brakes’’ – another win.

Many thanks to all for making this a memorable round.
